I first learned about Frederick Douglass when I was in college as an undergraduate at the University of San Francisco.  We read his first autobiography, Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass.   I have since learned more about his life, and frequently think of him and his words as a source of inspiration.

Frederick Douglass,  1818-1895, was born a slave.  He escaped to freedom and became an amazing orator, abolitionist, newspaper publisher, and women’s rights activist.
