Let’s dive in:
We're looking for an individual who is humanistic, equity-centered and effective as a bridge builder and human connector shaping the journey of our youth and young adults into and beyond BAYCAT’s digital media arts and storytelling educational programs. Your main role will be leading, managing and strategizing on all community-facing efforts serving youth and young adult programs aligned with BAYCAT’s mission, vision and values.

At BAYCAT, we pride ourselves in our commitment to diversity and inclusion. We're not just a nonprofit media production company; we're a changemaker, addressing racial, gender, and economic disparities in the media industry.

📽️ What we do:

  • Empower 200+ young creators yearly, guiding them through the media-making process.

  • Collaborate with 250+ partners, bridging the digital divide for 4,700+ youths over 17 years.

  • Provide paid media arts training for young people while creating stories that progress social justice.

Your role:

Program Management (50%): Direct program engagement strategy, manage applicant recruitment, volunteer engagement, employer partnerships, and mentorship program. Ensure that all government grant reports are properly updated and submitted, in partnership with our Development team. Work together with our Associate Director of Education on budgeting, events, and stewarding partner relationships.

Mentorship and Supervision (30%): Guide and inspire our Academy coordinators, ensuring effective outreach implementation.

Associate Director/Admin Duties (20%): Spearhead BAYCAT’s educational strategy, advise on budgeting, and optimizing internal communications.

We're excited about someone who:

  • Has direct and progressive experience doing community engagement work, developing relationships with partner decision makers and collaborators, especially seeking out those that overlap with the communities we serve (serving youth and young adults, BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, women-identifying and nonbinary).

  • Has experience as a project manager and supervisor, especially working with entry-level and early-to-mid-career team members interested in growth and in need of consistency, guidance, and training.

  • Has direct experience in youth development, trauma-informed, youth-centered, project-based learning, career coaching, and/or workforce development best practices and/or working with organizations that train in and implement those practices.

  • Holds experience in digital media arts or a related creative discipline.

  • Well-versed in racial justice values and can speak to the importance of diverse storytelling.

  • Is a humanistic supervisor, skilled in collaboration, organization, and communication.

  • Develops relationships within the local or regional educational, youth-serving community-based organization, and/or media industry landscapes.
