Associate Director of Education
📍 Location: This is an in person, office position in the San Francisco Bay area (Dogpatch neighborhood) and occasionally at offsite locations.
💰 Salary: $85,000 - $95,000 annually. Full-time role with generous benefits.

We're looking for an individual who is passionate about shaping the educational journey of our youth and young adults in the digital media arts and storytelling. Your main role will be to drive the educational strategy for BAYCAT, direct program design, train our trainers, guide our young learners, and ensure impactful experiences for them. At BAYCAT, we pride ourselves in our commitment to diversity and inclusion. We're not just a nonprofit media production company; we're a changemaker, addressing racial, gender, and economic disparities in the media industry.

Empower 200+ young creators yearly, guiding them through the media-making process.

Collaborate with 250+ partners, bridging the digital divide for 4,700+ youths over 17 years.

Provide paid media arts training for young people while creating stories that progress social justice.
Your role:
Program Management (50%): Direct curriculum design, manage program cycles, strategize future programs, and work together with our Community Engagement Manager on budgeting, events, and community relationships.
Mentorship and Supervision (35%): Guide and inspire our Academy instructors, ensuring effective curriculum execution.
Associate Director/Admin Duties (15%): Spearhead BAYCAT’s educational strategy, advise on budgeting, and optimize facilities and equipment.
We're excited about someone who:

Has taught diverse communities (ages 11-25, BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, women-identifying, nonbinary, neurodivergent), with a preference for someone who’s led teams of other teachers.

Understands youth-centered, project-based, trauma-informed learning.

Holds experience in digital media arts or a related creative discipline.

Well-versed in racial justice values and can speak to the importance of diverse storytelling.

Is a humanistic supervisor, skilled in collaboration, organization, and communication.
