Production Manager

Location: Dogpatch, San Francisco (hybrid role)  ·  Reports to: Studio Director

Compensation Range: $80,000 - $84,000 + benefits (full-time, exempt)  · Start date: ASAP

BAYCAT is in search of a Production Manager to lead our Studio in managing our client relations, managing and mentoring video producers and editors and to oversee budgets for our Studio productions. This person will work closely with the Studio Director, Lead Creative Producer and Post-Production Manager to ensure the highest quality content for our client roster, and will be responsible for day to day operations of our on-set productions.

 

THE ROLE

  • Oversee day-to-day Studio services delivery: ensure creative integrity, high quality and alignment with industry standards throughout the production process until delivery;

    • Manage and oversee video pre-production planning and on-site production activities for video clients; 

    • Manage the production team, including an in-house videographer & production technician + our database of production contractors/freelancers; 

    • With support from Studio Director, manage Studio’s production budgets, communication with contractors, measures impact of each project acts as a sounding board for creative producers, ​creating and providing guidance on production work plans, share constructive feedback media rough cut reviews;

    • Help to keep the team inspired, focused and accountable – making sure projects are executed efficiently, professionally and on time.

  • Lead for all production prep: Deliver high quality product on time and within budget while managing multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring that all deadlines are met;

    • Coordinating all aspects of a production, which may include hiring talent, renting equipment, scheduling crew members and arranging travel plans;

    • Managing the financial aspects of a production, including estimating costs;

    • Reviewing project proposals and creating breakdowns to determine the crew and resources required for each shoot.

  • Be on set: Support the creative producers to implement the production plan and ensure all safety and health standards are met; manage about 5-10 in-person and/or virtual productions a month. 

  • Mentor: With support from BAYCAT Academy, provides professional opportunities and guidance to interns, apprentices, and/or youth involved with projects you are working on. 

  • Engage in BAYCAT team building activities, which may include team meetings, Studio team sync up meetings, retreats, Culture Club and other team-related gatherings.

  • Support Studio team with maintaining a network database and finding Black, Indigenous, POC & LGBTQ talent, both in BAYCAT’s alumni pool and within the Bay Area creative community.
