Director of People and Service

📍 Location: This is an in person, office position in the San Francisco Bay area (Dogpatch neighborhood) and occasionally at offsite locations.

💰 Salary: $100,000 - $115,000 annually. Full-time role with generous benefits.

📽️ What we do:

  • Empower 200+ young creators yearly, guiding them through the media-making process.

  • Collaborate with 250+ partners, bridging the digital divide for 4,700+ youths over 20 years.

  • Provide paid media arts training for young people while creating stories that progress social justice.

Your role:

Every day is different but mostly you’ll be responsible for:

Human Services Leadership (60%)

HR Infrastructure and Strategic Alignment: You’ll champion our mission and values and develop People Support programs aligned with our strategic goals, fostering effective communication and learning initiatives, and ensuring compliance with HR laws and COVID protocols.

Accountability and Feedback Systems: You’ll foster a culture of reflection and setting clear expectations, while also developing and implementing professional development programs and performance evaluation processes in alignment with our goals and values.

Employee Relations, Integration, and Engagement: You’ll lead efforts to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion, foster trust, manage conflicts, and enhance organizational performance while supporting staff morale and well-being.

Talent Acquisition and Performance Management: You’ll develop and implement comprehensive talent acquisition strategies, manage applicant tracking and relationships, oversee onboarding and offboarding processes with integrity, and design employee engagement strategies that align with our antiracist values and promote diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Compensation and Benefits: You’ll ensure the integrity of our compensation plan, analyze compensation and benefits data, manage benefits programs for compliance and alignment with our antiracist values, and make annual recommendations for future plans to meet the expectations of our staff and organization.

Operational Excellence (40%)

Payroll Management and HRIS Integrity: You’ll manage payroll processes, ensure HRIS data accuracy, oversee timekeeping processes, and develop systems to support timely recordkeeping and payroll processing.

Business Operations Management: You’ll be the go-to for keeping things running smoothly, managing budgets and resources wisely, setting up user-friendly information systems, and making sure our tech tools are accessible and ready.

Emergency Response and Risk Management: You’ll be the key player in ensuring readiness of our emergency plans, assessing risks, coordinating training, and making sure our workplace is safe and sound, ready for anything that comes our way.

We're excited about someone who:

  • Brings 10+ years of organizational leadership, focusing on people, operations, and administration.

  • Experienced in building nonprofit/social enterprise capacity and operational structures.

  • Well-versed in racial justice values and can speak to the importance of diverse storytelling.

  • Is a humanistic supervisor, equity-centered leader who fosters trust, accountability, and emotionally intelligent communication.
